A Little Bit About Us
Salwach Photography is the premier South Jersey newborn, child and family photographer specializing in natural light portraits serving all of South Jersey and parts of the Philly region. We capture moments that will last forever including babies’ milestone packages and children’s first birthday cake smashes. We are an on location photographer based out of Sicklerville, NJ serving South Jersey residents.
I do not just capture pictures, but special moments that are frozen in time and will be something you will look back on forever. They are timeless photos that will always have a special place in your heart.
Its not just about taking your photo, but giving you an amazing experience. From the very beginning to the end, you will feel like you are in the right hands. One of my 6 year old clients held my hand after her photo shoot and told me “You are the funnest person to ever take my picture” If that doesn’t sum up how you can expect your experience to be, I’m not sure what can.
I make it my mission to have your photo be worth a thousand words and give you an unforgettable experience…

There was nothing sweeter than Madi celebrating her Sweet 16 at Ron Jaworski’s Ramblewood Country Club in Mount Laurel, NJ. This South Jersey venue was the perfect backdrop for her birthday event. They also host weddings and other events here. Though Madi’s actual birthday fell on August 21 (joking by thanking everyone for chipping in to buy her a solar eclipse, see why I just loved her), we celebrated early on the 4th. Being the perfect party host she made sure she chatted with all her guests and made her party completely unforgettable.
Madi takes part in many different activities in school including dance, cheerleading and many others. She has a has so many different groups of friends that it was great taking all their photos with their unique talents and personalities showing.
I loved that she had a who knows Madi best quiz. This was a lot of fun with many people hanging onto the end shows how many friends she has and is a testament to how great of a person she is. It also was fun because I got to know a lot more about her including that her favorite place is Disney and how long she has been a dancer. The person who won got a gift card.
They also played another game where the most talented dancer and singer got to DJ. I got to DJ once at a wedding and let me tell you its a bit of a rush.
It was great to see so many dancers out of the floor! Even the youngest dancers had their moment in the spotlight.
This beauty Liliana Elizabeth graced us with her presence at just 6 days new. She was born on August 1, 2017 at 8:44 a.m. weighing 8 lbs 2 ounces.
One of my good friends Chrissy from high school, whom I’ve been friends with now for many years, asked me to take her little girl’s pictures when she made her arrival. We both went to Washington Township High School in South Jersey as teenagers and met during junior year during lunch. I got to be there when she met her husband and started her family. I’m so lucky to know all of them, they are such great people and even better parents. We had so much fun picking out outfits for this little bundle. Her nursery has an underwater theme with a lot of teal, pink and blue so we came across this outfit and decided it would be so perfect. Isn’t she just perfect and those little lips!
Liliana was hands down the best sleeper I’ve ever had. She went into each pose like a pro. In my newborn welcome guide I send to all my parents, I give great tips and tricks on how to prepare your new baby for their photo shoot. Some of these tips include feeding your newborn as soon as they arrive so their belly is nice and full. Another is to try and keep them awake for at least an hour before their portraits. Sometimes giving them only a half feeding before you leave helps this so they aren’t as content to go right to sleep when you get in the car. Preparation really makes or breaks the session. Yes, your baby probably sleeps great normally, but they also aren’t being posed and naked during their nap. Its a bit of a shock to even the best sleepers. These extra factors equal extra preparation and equals a great photo shoot. We were able to get all these poses including sibling and family posing within two hours.
Mommy’s favorite pictures though ended up being the sibling pictures and you can obviously see why. She bought every photo of the two of them together. Lucas may have stole the show a bit from his little sister, but that’s completely okay because how adorable does he look here? The below photo may be my all time favorite, those dimples! I believe sibling shots are just as important as solo ones so I include them in your newborn booking at not additional fee.
Thank you again for choosing me to photograph these special moments! Please choose me as your South Jersey newborn photographer. I feel like I become a part of your family. I enjoy seeing my newborns grow into wonderful little children as I’m incredibly lucky that you bring them back for their first birthday cake smash and again throughout the years for your family sessions. I have the best job in the world. See you all soon!
Before I get into this totally awesome South Jersey smash, I feel like you need to know the story behind Amelie’s birthday theme so you can really appreciate everything in it.
Amelie’s name and theme comes from a 2001 French movie that they also made into a short running musical. It’s a really cute romantic comedy that features a traveling gnome and the whole movie features red, yellow and green tones which is where I made the basis of my set up. Young Amelie is views society and others through a telescope, but doesn’t really interact with others due to her parents’ illnesses. When she is older, she comes upon a small treasure chest in her apartment with old toys from a previous tenant. With determination she starts her quest to become an anonymous do-gooder and make a change in people’s lives. During her escapades, she meets and falls in love with Nino. Its a fun quirky movie and I can see why it struck a cord with Amelie’s parents.
With having a completely customized cake smash theme, I make a majority of my props. This red and yellow felt garland accented this gnome French countryside first birthday. It was such a fun challenge creating it. I was able to get a majority of the instructions from Pinterest, but of course I needed to add my own twist to it adding the black pistol in the center. ( yes I totally had to google what part of the flower that was, guess 5th grade flower science has been lost to me 😝) I also love the way the green vines twist around the rustic rope giving it color and ending with leaves on each side of the flower.
Cake smashes are hands down my favorite thing to photograph and they remind me how truly blessed I am to be able to do what I love! Amelie was pretty passe about the whole eating cake thing. She neither liked it nor hated it, but she had a ton of smiles and was willing to share her cake with anyone who wanted a bite! First birthdays can be accompanied by lots of tears, but I’ve been incredibly lucky to only have smiles and willingness to tear into that cake!
Mom just loved the whole set up and pictures that she purchased one of our new luxury album products featuring a 10 x 10 hardcover picture cover with 20 thick pages. These albums are great as you can set them up at your child’s birthday party and include a sharpie for everyone to write a little note and their names in the book. Now not only is it a beautiful display of pictures, but also a great memory for Amelie for when she is older. Special touches like this really make it worth it! I suggest getting their New Jersey first birthday portraits taken a little over a month before their party, that way everything has time to be edited and products ordered in time.
The best thing is they left me a review, I just love that I can touch so many people’s lives and leave them with a positive experience especially if they have not had one previously.
“Sam is a true professional ! Prompt and positive. She got my daughter to smile when all other photographers failed to do so in the past. She put a lot of time and effort to personalizing our photo shoot background to ensure it was perfectly matched to our first party theme. The photos came out fantastic and everyone loves them! Can’t wait to see the photo book I ordered ! Thanks a lot. Highly recommended!” Mallory
My love letter to other mothers,
So finally you’re little princess or prince is about to arrive and this has been the moment you have been waiting for, finally this pregnancy is coming to a close and there will be less heartburn, less having to go to the bathroom every five minutes and more room in your lungs.
Im going to be honest, this is exactly how I felt. Being 5 foot nothing, there was just not enough room for my baby to grow anymore! I wanted him out and out right now! I wanted so badly to have my body feel better that I totally forgot about the sleepless nights of a hungry newborn, the after effects of giving birth, and now the extra juggling and responsibility of having a second child. There is nothing wrong with feeling any of these feelings and just needing a little nap!
My older little girl is turning 4 in a few days and is pretty self sufficient that I also forgot how much work goes into a newborn. It’s so great to just ask her what’s bothering her or what she wants and not having to do a guessing game to calm her down.
Even though these days and nights seem to go on forever I would never trade them. He is beyond adorable, my perfect prince and my best advice even though I’m sure it’s been told countless times is to just remember that this will not last forever. Around 4 months, you will start getting some decent sleep and nursing won’t be as often. My other advice is to always remember to ask for help. Who doesn’t want to come over for an hour or two to hold your precious newborn while you either take a nap or spend some much needed quality time with your firstborn.
I love sharing tips to make anything easier on my fellow moms as we all need a helping hand from time to time. Now onto an amazing product, CleanSmart Toy Disinfectant Spray that my husband and I discovered at Toys r Us right before Blake decided to make is entrance. (Please note I am not endorsed for this product at all but am only sharing as one mommy to another.) This disinfectant spray makes it extremely easy to clean areas where your baby plays or toys. Simply spray and let dry. It’s baby friendly if baby decides to eat anything which they totally will do then it’s completely safe.
And finally, when you’re having a bad day take some time out and just take a look at your favorite picture of your newborn and smile because these moments only last so long. So here are some of my son’s portraits from his fresh 48 that I took in the hospital .
Love from your South Jersey fellow mom,
We welcomed our little baby boy, Blake Carter into our household on April 19th. He was such a tiny thing at 7 pounds and 6 ounces and 20 inches long. He was a lot tinier than his older sister. We are so happy to have him as part of our family and feel complete.
Of course, being who I am, I had to take his newborn pictures myself because I knew exactly what I wanted to do so I could display his photos throughout our South Jersey home. I am so happy with the outcome, they are exactly how I envisioned them! I have a home studio in Sicklerville, NJ where I take all my newborn photos, I can also travel to your home for an in-home session.
While I was pregnant, I had my belly cast at Image is Everything Photography They were fantastic and we even had Brooke’s pictures taken while we were there. I’m so happy with the meanings behind this picture. I thought I was going to have Blake before Easter, but he was a complete stinker and we evicted him a week after. I just couldn’t resist buying him this super cute woolen bunny to have him hold for his newborn portraits since I still consider him an Easter baby. He just fits perfectly inside my belly cast.
Little Blake’s bedroom theme is twinkle twinkle little star and I couldn’t resist getting him this outfit that matches his bedroom to perfection! His nursery colors are grey, white and navy, perfect right? I can’t wait to hang both of these as canvas in his bedroom. It will be the perfect finishing touch to his newborn nursery. Those lips!! Just saying
Big sister Brooke is obsessed with her little baby brother. She asks throughout the day to hold him and calls him her little buddy. She loves to calm him down by shhhing him (she may have watched too many of mommys newborn posing videos) and bringing him all of his toys. This melts my and any mommy’s heart! We are also going to make this into a large canvas and hang it over our living room fireplace. Obviously, I take great joy in displaying my images. Remember to display your images too, it’s great for kids self esteem.
Thank you everyone for being patient while I am spending time with my family. I will be back again at the end of May. Feel free to still send inquires at this time so we can book you for this spring or summer. Can’t wait to see you all for your NJ portrait session!
Salwach Photography is owned by South Jersey raised Samantha, usually referred to as Sam. I am mother to the world’s most beautiful little girl. She is the one who inspires me everyday to make the most out of life. She is also the one who made me push myself to finally follow my dreams and become a photographer. I wish I had a really unique story of why I became a photographer, but its pretty standard.
Years before I seriously considered becoming a photographer, I would stare at newborn and wedding photos and just soak up every detail loving these images. I worked in Human Resources at a staffing company in Philly at the time and decided to stay home when my wonderful husband and I had our first born. I just could not get enough of photographing each little detail of her tiny toes and hands and wanted to take amazing pictures like the ones I always saw online. From there I got my first DSLR when she was around one and went to work following her around like the dedicated mom-erottzi I was.
I am so glad that I decided to become a family photographer as it was a dream I guess I always had, but never really though of as something I could obtain. The safe route always seemed like the easier path and starting my own business was scary. I will always thank my little Brooke Lynn for constantly making and continually making myself into the person I want her to look up to which includes following your dreams and knowing nothing is too big to accomplished.
