Some days you just feel incredibly blessed to be chosen to take pictures of someone’s child. This newborn holds a very special place in my heart. Silas is a baby of a dear friend of mine and certainly what you would consider a miracle baby. Ever since their family moved into our court two years ago, we have become fast friends. Both of our older children are the same age and play together quite often. Now we both have little boys that will be very close in age too that will grow up together.
Throughout most of my friend’s pregnancy they were uncertain of if this little guy would ever get a chance to survive. During her first trimester she was placed on bed rest due to a subchorionic hematoma and was told she may miscarry. Luckily the subchorionic hematoma resloved and she though she was in the clear, but unfortunately that was not the end of their struggles.
At their 20 week ultrasound, the baby was then diagnosed with umbilical cord varix. This is an extremely rare condition that even some of the doctors at South Jersey Penn hospital hadn’t seen before. Because the varix carries a high rate of stillbirth the baby and mom were monitored twice weekly and she delivered him two weeks early. He is a true miracle baby. He is a true miracle baby. Some babies fight for their way into this world and I can’t wait to see how high fighting spirit takes him through his life.
All newborn sessions take place in my home studio and include use of my props, outfits and wraps. You are always encouraged to bring little things that are sentimental to your family since as your grandmothers quilt, grandfathers baseball hat etc. I love making these sessions completely personal.
If you are in your third trimester, please contact me for your South Jersey baby session. I can’t wait to work with you and your newborn!
