There’s nothing more I love than being a cake smash photographer in South Jersey, but before I get into this totally awesome South Jersey smash, I feel like you need to know the story behind Amelie’s birthday theme so you can really appreciate everything in it.
Amelie’s name and theme comes from a 2001 French movie that they also made into a short running musical. It’s a really cute romantic comedy that features a traveling gnome and the whole movie features red, yellow and green tones. It is where I made the basis of my set up. Young Amelie views society and others through a telescope. She doesn’t really interact with others due to her parents’ illnesses. When she is older, she comes upon a small treasure chest in her apartment with old toys from a previous tenant. With determination she starts her quest to become an anonymous do-gooder and make a change in people’s lives. During her escapades, she meets and falls in love with Nino. Its a fun quirky movie and I can see why it struck a cord with Amelie’s parents.
I make a majority of my props to make your theme completely customized. This red and yellow felt garland accented this gnome French countryside first birthday. It was such a fun challenge creating it. I was able to get a majority of the instructions from Pinterest, but of course I needed to add my own twist to it adding the black pistol in the center. ( yes I totally had to google what part of the flower that was, guess 5th grade flower science has been lost to me 😝) I also love the way the green vines twist around the rustic rope giving it color and ending with leaves on each side of the flower.
South Jersey cake smashes are hands down my favorite thing to photograph. They remind me how truly blessed I am to be able to do what I love as a cake smash photographer in South Jersey! Amelie was pretty passe about the whole eating cake thing. She neither liked it nor hated it, but she had a ton of smiles and was willing to share her cake with anyone who wanted a bite! First birthdays can be accompanied by lots of tears. I’ve been incredibly lucky to only have smiles and willingness to tear into that cake!
The Cake Smash Photographer
This absolutely gorgeous and delicious cake we got from Stella Baking Company in Washington Township, NJ. This rustic cake featuring glistening raspberries was to die for. I will definitely be recommending them to future clients!
Mom just loved the whole set up and pictures. She purchased one of our new luxury album products featuring a 10 x 10 hardcover picture cover with 20 thick pages. These albums are great as you can set them up at your child’s birthday party and include a sharpie for everyone to write a little note and their names in the book. It is a beautiful display of pictures and a great memory for Amelie for when she is older. Special touches like this really make it worth it being a cake smash photographer in South Jersey! I tell parents to book a little over a month before their child’s birthday party. This allows me time to order and edit all materials.
I just love that I can touch so many people’s lives leaving them with a positive experience. You can read a review from Amelie’s Mom below.
“Sam is a true professional ! Prompt and positive. She got my daughter to smile when all other photographers failed to do so in the past. She put a lot of time and effort to personalizing our photo shoot background to ensure it was perfectly matched to our first party theme. The photos came out fantastic and everyone loves them! Can’t wait to see the photo book I ordered ! Thanks a lot. Highly recommended!” Mallory
